01 · Air Purification
Walls that breathe — and give back to the air
Lime plaster is naturally porous. Rather than sealing a room in plastic film the way acrylic paint does, it exchanges moisture with the air — absorbing humidity when the room is damp and releasing it when the air is dry. The result is a noticeably fresher, more balanced indoor climate.
And as the lime cures, it absorbs carbon dioxide from the room in a process called carbonation — slowly turning back into the limestone it came from. Your walls literally mineralise over time.
02 · Mould & Bacteria
Naturally inhospitable to mould, mildew and bacteria
Lime is highly alkaline. That high pH makes the surface a place where mould spores, mildew, bacteria and dust mites simply cannot thrive — without a single chemical additive.
Combined with its breathability, which prevents the trapped condensation that feeds mould behind painted walls, lime plaster is the finish of choice for bathrooms, coastal homes and anyone who takes indoor air quality seriously.
03 · Healthy Homes
Extremely low or zero VOCs. Nothing to off-gas.
Conventional paints can release volatile organic compounds into your home for months after application. Our lime-based finishes are extremely low in — or completely free of — VOCs.
The purest systems in our library, the Intonachino range, are composed of lime putty, ground marble and no more than 5% natural additives. What goes on your walls is essentially stone.
04 · Longevity
A finish that gets harder, not tired
Paint peels. Lime carbonates. Every year, a lime plaster wall is chemically closer to solid limestone than the year before. The original Venetian showroom that revived these techniques is still standing in Venice, near Piazza San Marco.
Sealed microcement systems bring the same longevity to wet areas and floors — water-resistant, wear-resistant and designed for decades of daily life, with heavy-duty grades for commercial use.
